Zadar is said to be 3,000 years old and is surrounded by historical ramparts and archaeological and monumental riches of ancient and medieval times. The city was first settles in the 4th century B.C. by the Illyrian tribe of Liburnians — the name Jader was mentioned — and through history it has changed into Idassa (Greek source), Jadera (Roman source), Diadora, Zara (during Venetian rule and later Italian), until finally today’s name of Zadar.

This bike tour takes place in Central Dalmatia — an absolutely stunning part of the world — will take you through charming towns and beautiful islands. You will experience the historic city of Zadar with its picturesquely situated old town, and tour through the islands of Pašman, Ugljan, Molat and Dugi Otok, visiting towns that include two UNESCO World Heritage sites, so named for their impeccable preservation, historic value and stunning beauty. Each evening you will make your way back to our private boat, and begin the journey to the next stunning vista. This new addition to our Croatia tours has the least challenging rides of the five itineraries we offer here and is designed for all levels of cyclists.
Day One — Primošten, (1 mile = 1.6 km)
We suggest you arrive as early as possible in Trogir to give yourself some time to explore this lovely port town on your own. Reminiscent of Venice, you could spend hours exploring — but do make sure you find our boat at the pier before you start to wander. After check-in, our motorized boat will take you on the first little cruise from Trogir to Primošten, an old town situated on a small peninsula, our home for the night, Today we will have bike fitting and some time for swimming before dinner.
Day Two — Vodice and Murter, Pašman and Ugljan islands, 24 km + 24 km (easy to moderate)
A morning sail will bring you to Vodice for the first bike ride of the day. You’ll ride on glorious back roads to the island of Murter, which is connected by a small bridge. After crossing the bridge, you will cycle along the coast back to the boat for lunch. The boat will dock in a quiet bay, perfect for a swim break after the morning’s cycle. In the afternoon, we cruise to our next two islands of Pašman and Ugljan, which are connected by a bridge. We will spend our second night in a small village on the island Ugljan.
Day Three — Ugljan island, 34 km (easy to moderate)
Today’s ride is a very gentle one across the island of Ugljan. You will cycle all the way to the far end of the island and then back again to meet up with our boat for lunch. The afternoon is reserved for swimming and relaxing. After, we sail to Zadar, a historical town inhabited since prehistoric times. This glorious town will charm you with it’s narrow streets and well-preserved history.
Day Four — Molat and Dugi Otok islands, 18 km + 28 km (easy to moderate)
Today’s sail takes us to the island of Molat. You will cycle out and back on the island’s only road. They call Molat the flower island because it’s home to hundreds of different plants that grow as far as the eye can see. With only a few hundred inhabitants, fewer cars and no police, time feels as if it has stopped on this island. After lunch we sail to Dugi Otok for our second ride of the day, which brings us to the southern part of the island and a gorgeous view of the neighbouring islands.
Day Five — Dugi Otok, 20 km (moderate)
Today’s ride continues on the south of the island into the the nature park of Telašćica and back to our boat. In the afternoon, we sail through Kornati National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Croatia and home to around 150 islands in an area of 300 square km. The crystal clear water and beauty of the islands will inspire many photos.
Day Six — Vodice and Skradin, 38 km (moderate)
Today’s bicycle ride will show you another side of the country. Though never far from the coast, you will cycle on the mainland through small villages and vineyards, passing through areas that remind us of the war that happened only 30 years ago in Croatia. In Skradin we meet our boat for lunch, and in the afternoon you will visit the Krka National Park, home to a series of cascading waterfalls. After your visit to the park, our boat sails on the Krka river to Šibenik and spends the night in this UNESCO historical town.
Day Seven — Primošten and Trogir, 40 km (moderate)
In the morning, we sail back to Primošten and head out on our last ride of the week. The ride will have you once again cycling through a number of small villages. The big reward of the day will be the panoramic view of Trogir and the nearby island of Čiovo. After lunch you will have time to enjoy Trogir’s Old Town, another UNESCO World Heritage site.
Day Eight — Trogir
You will enjoy a final breakfast on the boat, while reminiscing about the week’s adventures. If your journey has you exploring more of this country, let us know and we can help suggest itinerary ideas.
